Practice focus
Sergey specialises in complex cross-border disputes, international investment and commercial arbitration, and sanctions. He represents both sovereigns and investors in investment disputes, acts for clients in ad hoc arbitration and under the rules of all major institutions, in maritime disputes, and in litigation before the courts in Canada, Europe, India, Russia, Switzerland, the UK, Bermuda, and the US. His experience includes coordinating the defence of the Russian Federation in investment arbitrations and related proceedings for over US$70 billion. He acts as arbitrator. Prior to joining BGP Litigation, he worked at international law firms in Russia and the USA as an external counsel and as an in-house lawyer for public and private clients, including one of the Russian Forbes leaders. Sergey graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University and obtained his LL.M. degree from Pepperdine University School of Law (California, USA). Admitted to practice in Russia and New York.

Awards and rankings
