Albina Nikkonen has been working at the position of Executive Director of the Russian Venture Capital Association (RVCA) since 1998.
A set of fundamental documents aimed at improvement of investment attractiveness of Russian economy has been worked out with her instigation and with her active participation. Thus, the Yearbook “Russian Private Equity and Venture Capital Market Review” has been published annually since 2004. She took part in formulation of the Russian Venture Company’s (RVC) concept of operations in 2006.
Albina Nikkonen initiated establishing in Russia the National Business Angels Association in 2010, the functioning of which is actively supported by RUSNANO and RVC.
Albina Nikkonen is one of the authors and permanent Chairman of the organizing committee of the Russian Venture Fair which has been conducted annually in Russia since 2000. Now the Venture Fair is the major contact ground for professional participants of private equity and venture capital industry as well as for owners and managers of small and medium-scale business companies from technology innovation sector in Russia.
Before joining the RVCA executive management board, in 1992 Albina Nikkonen was one of the organizers of The Saint Petersburg Regional Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development, on the base of which the first Innovation Technological Center (ITC) was created in Russia. Mrs. Nikkonen actively participates in international activities in the innovation and investment areas. At different times she was a member of the Russian-American Innovative Council on high technologies, a member of Finnish-Russian working group for innovation cooperation. At present she is an expert at the
United National Economic Commission for Europe – UNECE.
A.Nikkonen was awarded: Honorary certificate of the Russian Federation Government, Honorary certificate of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Medal of the Russian Federation «In memory of the 1000th Kazan anniversary», Order of Friendship.
