Sergey Avakyan is a senior dispute resolution lawyer and one of the key arbitration specialists in Moscow NRF team. He represents Russian and foreign clients in arbitrations over construction, insurance and general commercial disputes. He has been recently involved in a few high profile construction and aviation disputes. Sergey is experienced in arbitration proceedings under different arbitration rules, including ICC and LCIA. He also has substantial experience of arbitration related advisory work, including his recent experience on advising on various vectors of effects brought by the Lugovoy Law (FZ-171) ranging from general clarifications on the law substance to complex advisory work on mitigation of risks imposed by the said law. Sergey is a graduate of the Law Faculty of the Moscow State University. He holds a membership in such ‘young arbitration groups’ as ICC YAF, LCIA YIAG, RAA40 and the Willem C. Vis Moot Alumni Association. He is a native Russian speaker; he is also fluent in English and has basic knowledge of Armenian and German.
