RAA and Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa signed a Cooperation Agreement

06.05.2026 RAA and Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa signed a Cooperation Agreement The Russian Arbitration Association and Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) signed a Cooperation Agreement during Johannesburg Arbitration Week 2026.

The growing trade relationship between Africa and Russia, together with evolving global economic and humanitarian challenges, necessitates closer cooperation between our legal communities in order to strengthen their versatility and self-sufficiency.

The Cooperation Agreement between the AFSA and the RAA represents an important step towards building a more predictable and reliable framework for mutual trade.

We have agreed to support the training and promotion of local arbitrators, exchange information and expertise, organise joint events, and undertake other appropriate initiatives aimed at advancing the rule of law and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

The Memorandum was signed by the AFSA's CEO Andile Nikani and the RAA's Secretary General Roman Zykov. Special thanks to Adv Svetlana Vasileva-Stratenwerth for the hard work to make it happen.
