Peter Pettibone is an independent arbitrator and mediator specializing in arbitrating and mediating international commercial cases involving Russian, Ukrainian and Western parties. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a CEDR-accredited mediator, a founding director and now an Honorary Director of the U.S.-Russia Business Council and a member of the Russian Arbitration Association.

Mr. Pettibone practiced law in New York and Moscow for more than 40 years. He opened his first law office in Moscow in 1991 and served as the Managing Partner of the Moscow office of Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) from 2000 to 2010.

After retiring from active law practice in 2010, he has arbitrated more than 25 international commercial cases in Moscow, Kyiv, Stockholm and New York as tribunal chairman, party-appointed arbitrator, sole arbitrator and emergency arbitrator. He is a Russian speaker, and many of the cases he arbitrated were conducted in Russian.

He is on the roster of arbitrators at the AAA-ICDR, the International Commercial Arbitration Court in Russia, the International Commercial Arbitration Court in Ukraine, and he is on the Panel of Arbitrators at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre,

He has mediated court cases in New York where he is a Special Master at the Appellate Division, New York State Supreme Court, First Department and on the roster of mediators at the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court.

He is a graduate of Princeton University (AB, summa cum laude), Harvard Law School (JD) and NYU Law School (LL.M)
