Chiann Bao is an international arbitrator and member of Arbitration Chambers with extensive experience working in multiple jurisdictions (Singapore, Hong Kong, New York, and London). She has been appointed in numerous arbitrations, including ad-hoc arbitrations and arbitrations under the rules of most major arbitral institutions. Ms. Bao regularly handles arbitrations involving complex issues and disputes involving multiple contracts. Prior to becoming an independent arbitrator, she worked in private practice where she focused on complex international arbitration and litigation, acting as counsel for corporates, state-owned enterprises and states in a range of disputes in various sectors.

Ms. Bao is a Vice Chair of the IBA’s International Arbitration Committee. She is also a Vice President of the ICC Court of Arbitration, the chair of the ICC Commission’s Task Force on ADR and Arbitration and a member of the ICC’s Belt and Road Commission.  From 2010 to 2016, she served as the Secretary General of the HKIAC and was subsequently appointed as a Council Member of the HKIAC. Ms. Bao is an honorary senior fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a CEDR-accredited mediator. She speaks English, Mandarin and has basic knowledge of Russian.
