James Brady is a partner in the London office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, focusing on dispute resolution, international arbitration and enforcement. He has been named as a commercial litigation and arbitration “Rising Star” by Legal Week, and recognized by Chambers UK and Legal 500 for his expertise in banking litigation and international arbitration. He is described in Legal 500’s 2020 international arbitration rankings as “destined for great things”.

James’ work frequently involves complex multi-jurisdictional matters and high-stakes disputes, and he has represented clients in international arbitrations (including under ICC and LCIA rules), English court proceedings and before law enforcement and regulatory authorities.  He has acted in several arbitration-related applications before the English High Court on matters including obtaining injunctions in support of arbitration, challenges to arbitrators, disclosure from arbitrators, the role of tribunal secretaries and recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. His recent arbitration experience includes acting in cases involving issues of bribery and corruption. James has also taught on evidence in international arbitration.

James is a graduate of University College London and a Solicitor-Advocate of the Senior Courts of England & Wales.
