Dr Cristina Alexe is partner of a Romanian law office having over 20 years of experience in legal matters as member of the Bucharest Bar. Her practice focuses on international arbitration, advising on matters of international law, contract law, cross-border jurisdiction and assisting clients in arbitration proceedings in front of Romanian and international courts of arbitration under various rules (ICC, VIAC, UNCITRAL, ICSID and CICA CCIR). Her arbitration experience is doubled by strong knowledge and continued practice as a transactional lawyer in M&A/privatisation, banking and finance, real estate and project finance areas.

Dr Cristina Alexe acts as an international arbitrator with the ICC International Court of Arbitration and the Court of International Commercial Arbitration of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

She is listed on the Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) list of arbitration practitioners, the Shenzen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), Georgian Dispute Resolution Centre (DRC) and with the AHK International Court of Arbitration (Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce).

Dr Cristina Alexe is a Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

She graduated the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Central and Eastern Europe, a unique two year basis advanced level training designed for professionals interested in pursuing a career as an international arbitrator, held under auspices of the ICC Institute of World Business Law and ICC International Court of Arbitration.

Dr Cristina Alexe was previously managing associate and co-head of the international arbitration practice group with major Romanian law firm, Popovici Nițu Stoica & Asociații (2003–2014) and senior associate with Mușat & Asociații (1998–2003).

Her strong academic knowledge includes a PhD in civil procedure awarded by the University of Bucharest Faculty of Law with the highest distinction, summa cum laude (2008: “The Civil Trial Judge Between an Active Role and Arbitrariness. Comparative Studies”).

She continues her academic work with the University of Bucharest Faculty of Law and is currently lecturer at the International Arbitration LLM (since 2013), and has previously taught weekly seminars on civil procedure law (1998–2000).

Dr Cristina Alexe is the editor in chief of the Romanian Arbitration Journal. She published over 25 articles on civil procedure, international arbitration and commercial law and regularly speaks at conferences on these subjects.  

She is proficient in Romanian and English and has a good knowledge of French.

She is member of the ICCA, ICC YAF, LCIA European User’s Council, and Institute for Transnational Arbitration.
