Alfonso Gómez-Acebo advises and represents clients in international arbitrations. He has particular experience in cases related to crossborder acquisitions, financial services, construction, energy, oil & gas, telecommunications, insurance and sports. He has acted as counsel in over 60 international arbitrations, both institutional and ad hoc, involving private parties, states and state-owned entities with interests in Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa and Western Asia. He also serves as arbitrator.

Dr. Gómez-Acebo is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), member of the Governing Board of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA), member of the Commission on Arbitration and ADR of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and member of the Advisory Council of the International Center of Arbitration, Mediation and Negotiation (CIAMEN).

He is recommended by Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers in Litigation and Arbitration.

He presided the subcommittee that drafted the section devoted to the duties of arbitrators in the Code of Best Practices of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA).
