Dmitry has fifteen years of experience in litigation and international arbitration, particularly in disputes involving state monopolies and companies with foreign investment in oil & gas, banking and construction sectors. He is recognised by his peers as an expert in real estate disputes and corporate conflicts. Dmitry has conducted more than 300 proceedings, acting for companies such as Alfa-Bank, Alfred C. Toepfer, Bank Petrocommerce, Bayer, BP, Conde Nast, Credit Suisse, Iberdrola, Lafarge Cement, Miratorg, Renaissance Capital, RTM Group, Sanofi-Aventis and Tetra Pak.

Dmitry has the expertise in international arbitration and the experience of arbitrating under ICC, LCIA, ICDR, GAFTA and ICAC (MKAS) rules. His recent major cases include:

Representing a global petroleum company in a corporate dispute in Russia.

Representing a Russian automotive manufacturer in an arbitration case in Stockholm under ICC rules.

Representing a Lithuanian agribusiness company in its four claims in the ICAC (MKAS) and in the subsequent enforcement procedure.

Representing a British company in the ICAC (MKAS) in a charcoal supply agreement dispute.

Representing a major Russian telecommunication company in connection with a corporate dispute in New York under AAA rules.

Representing a major German grain trader in an international arbitration under GAFTA rules in connection with defense from parallel torpedo litigation initiated by the respondent in Russian courts.

Representing a Russian agribusiness holding in connection with arbitration under ICC rules.

Dmitry has represented clients in a number of precedent-setting cases in Russia. These include: representation of a major Russian bank in the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of Russia in a bond default case; defense of the interests of a Russian industrial group in a corporate dispute over major the ownership of a cement plant; representation of the world's largest cement manufacturer in a dispute with a Russian power monopoly; representation of a transportation company in its dispute against a railway monopoly's subsidiary in connection with servicing contracts; and many others.

He previously worked as a General Counsel at the Energokaskad holding company and Managing Partner at Legas Legal Solutions.

Dmitry Dyakin is ranked among Russia's top arbitration practitioners by Global Arbitration Review. Dmitry is the co-author of The Dispute Resolution Review book (UK, 2010) and the author of a number of articles published in international and Russian journals.

Dmitry holds an LL.M. degree from the New York University School of Law (USA), an Honours Degree in Law from the Moscow State Social University and an M.P.L. Degree from the Russian School of Private Law. He also undertook an MBA programme at the State University - Higher School of Economics.

Mr. Dyakin is admitted to the Moscow Bar Association and is a member of its International Relationships Committee. He is the regional representative of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA)'s Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) in Russia and the CIS. He is also a member of the Advocacy and Notariat Committee of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, the Work Group on Arbitration Involving States or State Entities of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Russia; the Russia/Eurasia Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR)'s Young & International group, the ASA Below 40, the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, and the International Bar Association.
