On 20-30 April 2017, the preliminary rounds of the II RAA Online Arbitration Moot were held. Based on its results, 16 teams are now going to participate in the second stage of the Online Moot - pleading rounds in Moscow on 25-27 August 2017.
The preliminary rounds were held via videoconference. The teams participated in two online-rounds as claimants and respondents. The arbitrators evaluated the online-pleadings and the teams' procedural documents.
In 2017, the Online Moot geography includes more than 20 cities of Russia and Belarus. Thus, the RAA Online Moot has become the biggest moot court competition on arbitration within the CIS countries!
16 teams that have received the highest number of points for the online-rounds will participate in the next stage of the Online Moot. Notably, half of these teams are represented by the regional universities: Perm State University, Ural State Law University, Ural branch of Russian School of Private Law, Tomsk State University, Saratov State Academy of Law, North-Caucasus Federal University, Orenburg branch of Moscow State Law University. Moscow and Saint Petersburg will be represented in the second stage by the teams of Higher School of Economics, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Moscow State University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and Saint Petersburg State University. The second stage of the Online Moot will take place on 25-27 August 2017. On 25 August 2017, the RAA conference for students and professional lawyers will be held. The conference will be devoted to the problems of the Moot Case and aimed at the development of the participants' advocacy skills. On 26-27 August 2017, the teams will participate in oral hearings before the arbitrators. On 27 August 2017, the Organizing Committee will announce the results of the II RAA Online Moot and the closing ceremony will take place.
