Ivan Zykin is the Vice President of the International Commercial Arbitration Court (ICAC) at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Russian Federation CCI) and a member of several panels of arbitrators including the Court of Arbitration for Resolution of Economic Disputes at the Russian Federation CCI, Commercial Arbitration Court at the Moscow CCI, Arbitration Commission at the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange, Arbitration Court at the Bulgarian CCI, the Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration (Lithuania), and a number of other arbitration institutions. Ivan was awarded an honorary medal by the Russian Federation CCI for his contribution to the development of arbitration practice. He has arbitrated in more than 200 international arbitration proceedings, including those conducted under the Rules of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, International Chamber of Commerce, American Arbitration Association, and UNCITRAL.

Ivan has been involved in drafting a number of Russian laws, including the Law on Foreign Trade, the Civil Code (international private law provisions), and the State Immunity Act. He has been awarded the Anatoly Koni Medal by the Russian Ministry of Justice for his proactive work in legislation.

Ivan took part as a Russian delegation member in several UN Conferences on International Code of Conduct on the Transfer of Technology (1979 – 1981) developed under the aegis of UNCTAD, participated in negotiating several bilateral international tax treaties (1978-1981) and in developing the electronic fund transfer regulations (1988 – 1989) within the UNCITRAL framework, as well as in the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of the Draft UNIDROIT Conventions on International Factoring and International Financial Leasing.

Ivan Zykin provides advice on international private law, civil law, commercial law, and arbitration and takes part in negotiations on large-scale commercial and industrial projects

He represents clients and serves as a legal expert in international arbitration proceedings in Russia and abroad.

Professor Zykin is regularly invited to speak on international private law and commercial arbitration matters at international conferences and is lecturing in Russia and abroad (including in Finnish and Canadian universities) on international private law, contractual law, and dispute resolution.
