Experience
Ms Heidi Merikalla-Teir is the Secretary General of the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI). Since February 2015, she is responsible for developing and coordinating the activities of FAI.
Previously, Ms. Merikalla-Teir worked as a Specialist Partner at one of the largest Finnish law firms where she specialized in commercial arbitration and litigation.
She has extensive experience in representing clients in domestic and international commercial arbitrations under various arbitration rules as well as in ad hoc proceedings. She has advised clients in business disputes relating, inter alia, to the sale of goods, shareholders’ agreements, merger and acquisitions, and distribution in various business sectors. She also serves as arbitrator and mediator. Her expertise in dispute resolution has been recognized by the legal directories Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration, Chambers Europe, Chambers Global and Best Lawyers.
Education
Ms Merikalla-Teir holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Helsinki, Finland. She also trained on the bench at the District Court of Helsinki, Finland.
In addition to her law degree, Heidi Merikalla-Teir holds an MBA degree from the Helsinki School of Economics (renamed as Aalto University School of Business), Finland.
She participated in the first Finnish Arbitration Academy arranged by the Finland Chamber of Commerce in spring 2014.
