Partner at KIAP, Attorneys at Law, Head of Shipping and Transport Law practice, arbitrator of the Russian Arbitration Association (RAA) and The Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA). Ahmedov possess considerable experience in the field of maritime private law, insurance and international trade law gained by working in the National Bank of Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan where he was promoted from a specialist to the head of front-office. Over the following several years, he worked for the American Bar Association in Uzbekistan. Subsequently, Aybek acquired sound experience by working for Hertz Europe Ltd. in London as a business analyst and a legal advisor for Baltic Marine Broker, a Latvian consulting firm.

 

Aybek is an active blogger and author on selected projects for Legal AbstractLex Mercatoria and Shippinglaw.ru. He is also a member of Young International Arbitration Group at LCIA, RAA40 and London Shipping Law Centre.

 

He is an author of over fifty articles on various areas of law, including law of marine insurance, law of international sale of goods, shipping law, maritime law and international commercial arbitration. Aybek has authored the first book on law of banker’s documentary credits in Russia, and is in the stage of preparation of the book about Transport Law in Russia for Wolters Kluwer in Netherlands.

 

Recently Aybek joined the initiative of Eric Van Hooydonk on worldwide restatement of maritime law and is expected to contribute with an article on Russian maritime law reform.
