The Russian Arbitration Association (RAA) formed the following working groups:
1. The RAA Charter and Arbitration Rules to administer disputes under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules
In connection with the adoption of new Federal Law “On Arbitration in the Russian Federation” (Law on Arbitration), which sets out a specific procedure for regulation of arbitration procedure and established requirements for permanent arbitration institutions, it became necessary to bring in line with new legislation the RAA Charter and RAA Arbitration Rules for administering disputes under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.
2. Arbitration Rules for Corporate Disputes
Taking into consideration the adoption of the Law on Arbitration, corporate disputes, which are currently non-arbitrable in Russia, will become arbitrable. In relation to this development, the RAA created a working group for the drafting of the Corporate Disputes Arbitration Rules.
3. The Insurance Disputes Arbitration Rules
The RAA decided to create a Working Group on the Arbitration Rules for Insurance Industry. There are several reasons why the creation of such group is timely and expedient, namely the peculiarities in resolving insurance, reinsurance and insurance mediation disputes, lack of the uniform approach in Russia state courts' practice as to interpreting the material law applicable to insurance and reinsurance agreements. The working group is aimed at serving an effective forum for alternative method of resolving the above disputes.
4. A Working Group on monitoring Court practice
The aim of this Working Group is to systematize court practice and monitor the Supreme Court decisions related to arbitration.
5. The Prague Rules on the Taking of Evidence
The Working Group was created to establish a set of rules on the taking of evidence in international arbitration based on an inquisitorial procedure model.
I addition, the RAA has created the following working groups:
6. The RAA Rules for Venture Investments Disputes
The purpose of this Working Group is to establish arbitration procedure for the venture investments industry.
7. Construction Arbitration Rules
The aim of the Working Group is to draft special rules for the construction industry.
8. A Working Group on the Standard Form Contracts
The objective of the Working Group is to draft standard form contracts addressing the needs of the business. These contracts shall be based on the court practice analysis.
