he Court of Arbitration for Sport has dismissed the appeals filed by Canada and Slovenia related to the final results of the men's ski cross at the Sochi Olympics.
The Olympic committees of both Canada and Slovenia protested the results of Friday's ski cross final that saw France sweep the podium. Both committees asked for the disqualification of the winning skiers, alleging that the French support staff changed the shaping of its racers' lower leg suits for an illegal aerodynamic effect.
However, the CAS ruled the protests had been filed late, as the big final took place around 3:00 p.m. local time while the protests weren't received until after 9:30 p.m. Sochi time that night.
According to the International Freestyle Skiing Competition Rules, "[n]o Protest shall be considered by the [FIS Competition] Jury unless" a written protest is made "to a [FIS] Jury member within 15 minutes of completion of the last competition run of that phase of competition."
Canada's Brady Leman fell on the final turn in the big final and finished in fourth place, while Slovenia's Filip Flisar finished second in the small final behind Russia's Egor Korotkov to take sixth place.
